The Cadillac STS, now confirmed for release in South Africa towards the end of the year, will be the flagship of the marque's local range.

This large luxury sedan is based on GM's acclaimed rear-wheel drive Sigma architecture.

The STS is the product of unwavering attention to detail, resulting in sophisticated luxury, overall harmony and purposeful innovation.

The specifications for South Africa are expected to include the 4,6litre Northstar V8 engine matched to Cadillac's five-speed automatic transmission with "driver shift control".

This delivers maximum power of 239kW at 6400rpm with torque of 427Nm at 4400rpm. That is sufficient to power the STS to a maximum speed of 250kmh and to achieve a 0-100kmh in just over six seconds.

The Cadillac STS has a large platform that accommodates a spacious and stylish interior with the emphasis on high-quality fit and finish.

As befits its luxury status, the Cadillac STS is packed with luxurious appointments and high-technology.

Integrated chassis control combines a high level of dynamic performance with a comfortable ride. The technology is linked to a two-mode magnetic ride control with performance or touring selections available.

The electronically controlled magnetic-fluid real-time damping of the STS is believed to be the world's fastest-reacting suspension-control systems.
