Kaizer Chiefs walloped Bloemfontein Celtics 4-0 in an exciting Castle Premiership match played at King's Park Stadium in Durban on Saturday night.
On the day, Chiefs could have beaten any team and if their performance is anything to go by, it looks set that they will finish in a decent position on the log.
Players such as Emmanuel "Scara" Ngobese, Tenashe Nengomasha, David Obua and Kaizer Motoung junior played their hearts out.
Ngobese, in particular, stood head and shoulders above the rest. The game started at a blistering pace, with Chiefs showing no respect for the visitors.
Amakhosi ventured forward repeatedly, forcing Celtic to make blunders at the back. It was through one such fault that Chief's first goal came about.
As Sashi Chalwe tried to clear the ball, it rocketed off Motaung, who thankfully slotted home the opener in 26 minutes, thus opening the flood gates.
After that it was one-way traffic as Chiefs launched attack after attack and veteran striker Shaun Bartlett made amends for an earlier miss when he scored from a Motaung pass to beat Shoaib Walters in the Celtic goal in the 43rd minute.
In one of their rare attempts Phunya Selesele's Petrus Mahlatsi headed wide from Kleinbooi Taaibos before half- time. In the second half, Celtic tried harder and were nearly rewarded when Lebojoa Mphongoa's attempt was handled twice by Fernandez, who had a quiet first half.
Chiefs kept attacking and it came as no surprise when Walters brought down Siyabonga Nkosi inside the box and Jonas Nhlapho pointed to the spot. Motaung easily converted to make it 3-0 in 72 minutes.
Motaung completed his hat-trick when he scored on the second attempt from a pass by Nkosi.
