The Polokwane municipality will hold an emergency council meeting this morning to resolve the impasse regarding the appointment of a contractor to build the new Peter Mokaba Sports Complex.

The municipality has a budget allocation of about R800million to build the stadium.

But the municipality said the lowest bidder wanted R1,1 billion.

This was one of the crucial issues raised during the Local Organising Committee (LOC) meeting in Polokwane last week.

It has emerged that the LOC was concerned about the developments in Polokwane.

The LOC warned that more urgent steps needed to be taken to ensure a successful 2010 Soccer World Cup in the Limpopo capital.
