Former senior managers of the disbanded Bohlabela district municipality will not be penalised for issuing tenders on its last day of existence because they had all resigned before the investigation began.

Former senior managers of the disbanded Bohlabela district municipality will not be penalised for issuing tenders on its last day of existence because they had all resigned before the investigation began.

Senior managers and councillors of the defunct Bohlabela cross-boundary municipality in Bushbuckridge were probed for fraudulently issuing tenders of more than R100million on the last day of the municipality's existence.

Municipal manager Rodwell Mnisi resigned before the investigations were instituted.

Bushbuckridge and Maruleng, which formed Bohlabela, are now respectively run by Mpumalanga's Ehlanzeni and Limpopo's Mopani district municipalities. - Sakhile Mokoena
