Karate feast to whet appetites

Residents of Katlehong and surrounding areas will be treated to a martial arts feast when the Ekurhuleni Full Contact Karate Association stages a junior tournament at the local community hall on Saturday.

Residents of Katlehong and surrounding areas will be treated to a martial arts feast when the Ekurhuleni Full Contact Karate Association stages a junior tournament at the local community hall on Saturday.

Shihan Collen Sedoaba, chairman of the association, said they will be staging the tournament in conjunction with the Ekurhuleni Metro's sports and recreation division.

Said Sedoaba: "We wish to thank the metropolitan council for assisting us in terms of trophies.''

Eddie Thage, sports development officer in Ekurhuleni, said the aim of the tournament was to identify talented karateka and develop them.

"We want to develop future champions."

All combatants will be charged a flat fee of R10 each. - Meshack Khotha
