A senior official in the Mopani district municipality in Limpopo is facing disciplinary action for allegedly crashing a municipal vehicle.

He allegedly recently drove the car without authorisation while on a drinking binge.

Tiyane Chauke, a manager for protocol for the municipality, on Wednesday received a letter from the municipality telling him of its intention to suspend him.

A municipal source said Chauke drove the car while under the influence of alcohol and collided with another vehicle in Giyani's central business district.

He is also alleged to have continued to collect a car allowance of R3000 after his car was repossessed . - Alex Matlala
