Disgruntled Autopax employees marched and handed over a memorandum to the company's management at Beyers Naude Square yesterday.
Autopax is a long distance transportation company.
The employees who are affiliated to the South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (Satawu) consist of drivers, clerks, mechanics, sales and call centre staff.
Satawu spokesman Ronnie Mamba said the company needed to transform and improve its workers' working conditions.
"After 13 years of democracy, a company of Autopax's nature must show commitment to sufficiently transform from a white male dominated company," said Mamba.
He said the union expects management to respond within 48 hours, failing which they "will intensify the strike action."
The week-long strike is against the company's management style, malpractises and salaries.
"We are tired of of earning peanuts," said an unidentified employee of Autopax.
