Saving youth from HIV-Aids
LoveLife, the non-government organisation that creates HIV and Aids awareness among young people, will launch its 2007 campaign today.
The multimedia communications campaign will be led by 6000 young people who form part of LoveLife's countrywide leadership of "ground breakers and mpintshis" said the organisation.
LoveLife said this year's campaign urges the young to be part of a generation defined by ambition, the power to decide and a determination to live a healthy lifestyle and avoid HIV infection.
LoveLife's spokesman, Mandla Ndlovu, said: "It is time to push HIV communication to a new level.
Young people know how to avoid getting HIV, but still too few of them are adopting less risky behaviours.
"Every person, HIV negative or positive, needs to take a conscious decision that they do not want HIV and don't want anybody else to have it.
"We must all take control of our lives and our relationships. This resolve must become part of who we are," said Ndlovu.
