Sascoc plans a green commission

The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) plan to establish the sport and environment commission.

The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) plan to establish the sport and environment commission.

Sascoc president Moss Mashishi said one of their first priorities will be to approach the 2010 Local Organising Committee on matters relating to the environment.

"It will be established in the next few days. We have identified people to serve on the commission but are still awaiting their responses," he said. "As we prepare for the 2010 World Cup, it is important that we start taking the issues relating to the environment into account."
