Mio Technology has heard the cry of the geographically challenged motorist and has arrived in South Africa with two impressive devices from their product range. They have partnered with Rectron, a local IT distributor, where the latter will distribute the Mio C510 as well as the Mio P550.
The C510 is a portable navigation device that comes standard with maps of South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Swaziland. The other product that will be available to the South African market is the P550, which acts as a navigation device as well as a pocket PC. This device works with Windows mobile and can be used to download e-mail and browse the Internet. The restriction is that you will need to be in a wireless hotspot to be able to connect to these services.
Both devices are compact and easy to use and will go a long way to relieve the stress of navigation. Features include point of interest as well as an MP3 player and picture viewer. Expect to fork out about R4000 for this gadget.
