Core opposition must be black

The only thing that will come between me and the black consciousness philosophy is death. I pity people who don't have an ideological home yet.

I am very worried about the seemingly unstoppable ruling alliance hegemony. It is not good for a democracy when one party has overwhelming dominance and there is no serious black opposition

Azapo and the PAC are supposed to provide a viable alternative to the ruling alliance. It is unfortunate that in the run-up to the next elections, the only party that is being projected as an alternative and serious contender is Tony Leon's DA.

It is even worse that public debate and space is dominated by the ANC succession debate. Perhaps this confirms to many that Azapo and the PAC have already given up.

Azapo and the PAC represent unique brands and constituencies of the liberation struggle. Many people, particularly the black majority, would love to see these parties occupying the majority opposition benches in all municipalities, provinces and Parliament. But if they want to make a serious impact, these parties must be willing to tackle the alliance.

For Azapo it is worse. They will have to tackle their president, Science and Technology Minister Mosibudi Mangena.
