The situation at Sizwe Secondary School in Elandsfontein near Kempton Park is depressing for both teachers and pupils.

The situation at Sizwe Secondary School in Elandsfontein near Kempton Park is depressing for both teachers and pupils.

Most learners are forced to stand throughout lessons because there are insufficient chairs. Children also fight over chairs.

Teachers, too, do not have enough seats in their offices.

Parents donated R5000 towards buying chairs but this was not enough.

Gauteng education department spokesman Mbela Phetlhe says he is aware of the problem.

So what is the delay in providing the solution?

These chairs can be ordered and delivered in a week.
