There are numerous young and experienced graduates in Limpopo who qualified for the job but they were cheated out of an employment opportunity because they were not well-connected politically.

The continual appointment of people without the necessary qualifications for posts in government is one of the reasons why some provincial governments, including Limpopo, under-perform in terms of service delivery.

The provincial treasury has tried to defend the appointment of the MEC's son by claiming that when he was appointed his mother was not yet in that job, therefore there was no way she could have influenced it.

The provincial treasury must prove to Limpopo's youth that there were no irregularities regarding the appointment. They must also prove that the other candidates were not suitable for the job despite their qualifications . It is quite obvious that Mashamba had direct or indirect influence in her son's appointment.
