Bobby Brown failed to appear on a radio station's morning show on Friday after it posted R140000 to bail the singer out of jail.

The Washington, DC, radio station funded the troubled singer's release from jail last Wednesday in exchange for forthcoming appearances on air.

The 38-year-old was arrested on February 25 for failing to pay child support to his former girlfriend Kim Ward, the mother of his children, LaPrincia, 17, and Bobby Jr, 14.

Radio station staff members from Hot 99.5 are furious and posted a message on their website saying: "If you have been listening to The Kane Show this morning on Hot 99.5 then you already know what's happening.

"Bobby Brown has backed out on his part of our deal to pay his child support in return for appearing on The Kane Show for one week."

Brown is currently in the middle of divorcing Whitney Houston after 14 years of marriage. - Wenn
