Business people, professionals and golfers are invited to tee off in the Badirile High School golf day at the Blyvooruitzicht course in Carletonville on March 31.

The event, the first such effortto be organised to raise funds for the school.

Principal Boogie Babupi, whose school achieved excellent matric results last year with an 89 percent pass rate, said they were cultivating a culture of learning in the area.

"The school is doing well despite the riots that tore the township apart recently.

"We're producing good results and we hope that sponsors, big companies and business houses will come on board and assist us to raise more funds in this event," said Babupi.

He said they were looking at raising over a quarter of a million rand to purchase a vehicle to transport pupils and teachers to workshops, and to furnish a computer room that has already been built.

Babupi said some of the classrooms were vandalised and need to be repaired. They also need a security system for the safety of the pupils.

"Also, the ablution blocks are always blocked and we need a new system in place," said Babupi.

Companies and individuals have an opportunity to sponsor holes on the course at a certain fee. Sponsors can then erect banners and other signage at the holes they have sponsored.

Prizes will range from sports bags to sets of glasses, toasters, coffee mugs and shirts. Call Boogie Babupi on 082-976-2096 for further information.
