Chialanse attracts soccerites, netballers

Soccer and netball will be on display when the yearly Ackerman's Chialanse tournament is staged at the Moletsane Sports Complex in Soweto from March 24, with the finals to be played on April 7.

The tournament will feature under-10, -12 and -14 soccer teams, and U-15 and U-19 netball teams.

Tournament director Vusi Kunene said all participating teams will get branded Ackerman's T-shirts with incentives for player of the tournament and the top manager or coach, who will receiving a trophy and a R100 voucher.

Only eight teams will be accepted in the under-10 division, with the registration fee R200.

The winners get R600, a floating trophy, 21 gold medals, 21 certificates of participation, three soccer balls and a ball pump.

Second prize is R300, 21 silver medals, 21 certificates of participation and two soccer balls.

The under-12 division will have 32 teams with a R350 joining fee. The winners get R3 000, a floating trophy, 21 gold medals, 21 certificates of participation, five soccer balls, one first aid kit, 12 training cones, one set of corner flags, one ball pump and a set of nets.

The runners-up get R1500, 21 silver medals and three soccer balls. The third-placed team gets R750 and 21 bronze medals, while the fourth-placed club gets R400, 21 Ackerman's caps, a soccer ball and training cones.

The under-14 division will be contested by 40 teams with a R500 joining fee.

The tournament will be played on a round robin system.

Winners get R5000, a floating trophy, 21 gold medals, 21 certificates of participation, six soccer balls, a first aid kit, 12 training cones, a set of corner flags, a ball pump, 12 water bottles and a set of nets.

The losing finalists pocket R2500, while the third-placed team goes home with R1 500 and the fourth team gets R1 000.
