Spirit of Jub-Jub article a concern

The SABC is concerned about how Sowetan's article "Sins of controversial mother visited on son" was covered.

It gives the impression that Molemo Maarohanye, aka Jub-Jub, was "kicked out" of SABC1 programme Spirit Sundae , which is actually a spiritual magazine show and not a gospel show as stated in the article.

It was agreed between the show's producers and Maarohanye's management that they postpone his appearance after they had consulted with the SABC. In light of the publicity surrounding his mother it was felt that it would be in his best interest to let the matter die down first.

The producers felt that it would be inappropriate and uncomfortable for him to answer questions live on air about his family's spiritual and moral upbringing.

Maarohanye's manager has put it to Spirit Sundae that he contacted Sowetan journalist Prince Chauke to explain that Maarohanye had not been "kicked off" the show, but his appearance merely postponed, but this information seems to have been disregarded.

Spirit Sundae is committed to exposing and promoting emerging and established artists and to inspire our youthful audience spiritually through these personalities.
