Polokwane municipality will announce the preferred bidder tomorrow to build the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex that will be used for the 2010 World Cup.

Thabo Makunyane, the executive mayor of Polokwane, said there will also be a sod-turning ceremony.

Two companies have been shortlisted, though they were asked to lower their monetary requirements to build the 45 000-seater facility, said our sources.

"There is light at the end of the tunnel.

"We will be making an announcement of our preferred bidder before the end of this week," said Makunyane.

Training venues earmarked for the tournament include Seshego Stadium, Giyani Stadium and Thohoyandou. The new Makweng Stadium has also been added to the list.

Makunyane added that they will also be naming a director to spearhead the 2010 World Cup for the municipality soon.

Nakedi Lekota, the Safa national executive member for Limpopo, said the old Peter Mokaba Stadium will still be operational when the new stadium is built.
