Pope Benedict XVI at the weekend told Catholics to fight uncompromisingly against abortion, eugenics and euthanasia.

At a congress of scientists and theologians, he said Catholics should show "courageous conscientious objection" to all practices that risk "the value of human life".

The pontiff said: "Attacks on the right to life across the world have expanded and multiplied. The right to life is the fundamental right that surpasses all other rights." - Sapa-AFP
