Four years ago Free State Stars captain Duncan Lechesa fell head over heels in love with a sports presenter. He knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.

This dream came true yesterday when Lechesa walked down the aisle with his long-time sweetheart, Thobela FM news anchor Kgadi Monama, in Mosesetjane village in Limpopo.

It was a fairy-tale wedding for the lovebirds who met in 2003 when Monama was a sports anchor in Polokwane.

The wedding was a celebrity affair with throngs of the who's who of business and politics in attendance.

The couple rode on horseback, a wedding gift from Enos Mafokate, a well-known horse trainer and kwaito king Arthur Mafokate's father.

Soccer boss David Thidiela, his son Tshifhiwa and Tshifhiwa's musician fiancée Maduvha Madima were also present. Madima gave a splendid performance for the newly weds.

"I am so happy that we eventually got married. I never thought this day would come and now we need to focus on the future," said Lechesa.

Monama said Lechesa was more than a husband to her.

"He is everything that I ever needed in a man. He is a friend and a brother. When I need a shoulder to cry on, he is always there for me," she said.

The couple has a year-old daughter, Mokgabo.
