Bloemfontein Young Tigers still hold the record as the only amateur soccer outfit to have reached the semifinals of South Africa's version of the FA Cup.

Tigers were booted out of the now defunct BobSave Super Bowl by Kaizer Chiefs in Johannesburg in 1998.

Tigers are hoping to repeat that form in the Absa Cup where they take on AmaZulu in the last-32 stage at Seisa Ramabodu Stadium at 3.45pm on Sunday.

Khoarai Khoarai, Tigers' owner, said they were geared up for the game, and were expecting a tough one after Usuthu registered a rare win last weekend.

The struggling KwaZulu-Natal side pipped Silver Stars 1-0 at home last weekend, easing their relegation worries in the Castle Premiership.

"We have done our homework, our biggest problem is that we had to assemble a new team for this tournament because most of my players are cup tied," said Khoarai.

"Amateur clubs started with the eliminations in September while the professional sides are starting now. The professionals reinforced in February. We are disadvantaged as amateur sides."

Tigers are coached by Colt Sekoati, who captained the club's Class of 1998.

Other members of the Class of 1998 included Duncan Lechesa and Abram Raselemane.

James Dlamini, Usuthu manager, is adamant they will show the Vodacom League side the exit despite being minus key players Siyabonga Mkhwanazi, Lawrence Ncala and Shoes Moshoeu.

In Mpumalanga, Leandra FC welcome struggling First Division outfit GaRankuwa United to Secunda Stadium on Sunday at 3.45pm.

Leandra will be making their second consecutive appearance in the last 32 after losing to Chiefs in the same round last season. The Secunda side does not have a coach after parting ways with Kenny Ndlazi this week.
