Two weeks have passed since 21-year-old epilepsy sufferer Victor Fike Mohapi, left, disappeared.
His mother, Annah Mohapi, suspects he fled from the Geduld Epilepsy Residential Care Centre in Springs, Ekurhuleni, because he was unhappy after four months there.
Bongi Lupeng, a nursing sister at the centre, agreed: "He always stood next to the gate and would slip away when no-one was watching."
Mohapi's mother said: "Victor is reserved and never says anything when he's unhappy."
On the night he was last seen he told his roommate that he was leaving, but was persuaded to stay.
But later Mohapi is believed to have taken his belongings and jumped over a barbed-wire fence.
"Mohapi is on medication and gets frequent seizures. He left without his medication and this might aggravate his condition," Lupeng said.
A missing person docket has been opened by the Springs police. Anyone with information about Mohapi's whereabouts should contact Annah Mohapi on 072-833-1026 or the care centre on 011-811-1590/1.
