They may be bitter foes on the road, but Hendrick Ramaala and Kenya's Paul Tergat are the best of friends.

Tergat, the world marathon record-holder, is staging the Soya Kenya National Sorts awards in Nairobi tonight.

The popular Kenyan soldier, who has won many major athletics competitions globally, has invited Ramaala to be his special guest of honour at the ceremony.

"Paul has a company that is involved in various community projects, one of them the yearly sports awards ceremony," said Ramaala.

"The event is not only for athletics, he has included other sporting codes to encourage the Kenyan youth to be involved in sports.

"It is a great honour to be invited to the ceremony. Last year Paul had invited "The King" (Ethiopian Haile Gebreselassie) as his guest of honour."
