A police inspector appeared in the Port Elizabeth magistrates' court yesterday for attempted murder following a shooting incident at police barracks.

Captain Ernest Sigobe said the incident happened early on Sunday morning at the KwaZakhele barracks where the officer, 43, was having a party.

"A neighbour went to complain about the noise and when she left, the officer fired several shots through the wall of her prefab house."

The officer returned to the barracks and started shooting randomly. Four of his friends were wounded. - Sapa
