Free State Premier Beatrice Marshoff gave the people of the province hope when she presented her State of the Province Address on Friday.
"We can safely say that our ambitious mandate is steadily reaching its goals," she said.
"A survey conducted recently showed that the unemployment rate has decreased from 35percent to 28percent and the economy has grown from 0,1percent to 4percent."
The people of Free State are the second most optimistic in the country and the middle class has risen by 36percent.
"Clearly this indicates that we are doing something right despite the challenges and criticism we receive on a daily basis," Marshoff said.
The province had invested R640million in two bio-fuel plants.
A grant of R142million was allocated to a comprehensive plan for HIV-Aids management and treatment.
Of this amount, R85million was allocated to the rollout of antiretroviral drugs.
"Through the Expanded Public Works Programme about 4000 jobs were created for the youth."
Free State Stadium, Bloemfontein Airport and internodal facilities will receive huge cash injections for the biggest showpiece in the world.
"We are right on track as far as the 2010 World Cup is concerned and we know the province's people will benefit from it."
The Macufe cultural festival will also get more money.
