Refs killing beautiful game

After watching the match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates last Wednesday, I realised that our beautiful soccer is being killed by referees.

After watching the match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates last Wednesday, I realised that our beautiful soccer is being killed by referees.

The penalty that was given to Sundowns was uncalled for.

The referee was supposed to give Peter Ndlovu of Sundowns a yellow card but the yellow card went to the wrong person (Lucky Lekgwathi).

Such things kill the spirit of players as well as that of the supporters.

At times such mistakes by referees can prove costly to clubs and can drive fans mad.

Jerome Damon and Mr Bennet, please don't kill our lovely soccer.

Our so-called soccer analysts also add to the damage.

Last week, Robert Marawa asked on SuperSport if the referee should have awarded a penalty. The two analysts, Doctor Khumalo and Trott Moloto, at first could not say yes or no.

It is really a shame for former Bafana Bafana coach Moloto and Khumalo to later say it was a penalty.

Please save our beautiful soccer.
