Thabiso Sikwane is a determined young woman.

Not only is she a popular talkshow host on SAFM and wife to well-known radio personality Thato "DJ Fresh" Sikwane, she now wants to run the Comrades Marathon.

Sikwane is currently training with former Comrades Marathon winner and Harmony Gold team manager, Nick Bester.

Bester is determined that the renowned radio personality will finish this year's 89km ultra-distance race, which will be run downhill from Pietermaritzburg to Durban on June 17.

"I am busy preparing Thabiso for the race and I am positive she will finish.

"At the moment we are taking things slowly, doing short distances.

"I have given her a programme to follow on a daily basis in preparation for the big day," said Bester.

"I am happy with the progress we are making so far. Our next race is the Delloitte half marathon in Pretoria next month."

Sikwane said her fitness level will determine if she will participate in the popular race.

"But what I can tell you is that I'm sticking to the programme given to me by Bester," she said.

"I'm just recovering from a knee injury so I'm taking things slowly. But we will see how fit I am when the race comes."

Along with athletes from around the world, kwaito star Kabelo Mabalane is also expected to take part. He finished the race last year.
