Jomo Cosmos yesterday gained sweet revenge over hoodoo team Santos, whom they accounted for 2-1 in an exciting Castle Premiership match played at the Ackerville stadium.

As has been the case in recent weeks for Ezenkosi, the winning goal came in referee's optional time through Dikgang "Terminator" Mabalane.

With everybody resigned to a draw, which was Santos' mission, the enterprising Mabalane, who had a quiet game by his standards, came tearing down the right flank and his shot sneaked through Wayne Roberts' outstretched hands.

Jomo Sono's boys had come back rejuvenated from the break after playing a dour first half. The pep talk did the trick as Cosmos camped in the Santos half and threatened at every opportunity.

The hosts started the game somewhat defensively with the People's Team on the attack through Jonathan Armogam and Erwin Isaacs.

The game came alive in patches, especially when Anthony Laffor went on his trademark runs on the flank.

Reneilwe "Yeye" Letsholonyane was also a thorn in the flesh of the Santos rearguard and he was rewarded in the 16th minute when a searching pass from captain Sam Magalefa found him on the left to unleash an unstoppable shot.

The goal seemed to bring out some urgency from both teams as they went at each other hammer and tongs, with Santos having a slight edge.

The visitors equalised in the 28th minute through Koena Mathopa, who latched onto a square ball from Thando Mngomeni.

l Benoni Premier United and SuperSport United drew 0-0 in an uninspiring Premiership game at Mehlareng Stadium yesterday, reports Linda Moreotsene.

The first half was characterised by missed chances from both sides.
