British businessman Mark Thatcher, son of former prime minister Margaret Thatcher, was extremely nervous in all his dealings with the people involved in the alleged coup plot in Equatorial Guinea, the Pretoria regional court heard yesterday.

State witness, Crause Steyl, told the court that Thatcher met him at Lanseria airport in 2003. Thatcher paid Steyl R1,9million for chartering a helicopter, which was to be used in the west African country so that coup personnel could be transported. - Sapa
