Black-owned mining group Mvelaphanda Resources is hoping to announce an empowerment deal with the world's largest platinum producer Anglo Platinum this year, said Mvela Resources chief executive Pine Pienaar.

"I hope that we can make an announcement around June or July," Pienaar said.

But he warned transactions could take longer than expected, pointing out the recent Afripalm Resources deal that took six months to negotiate. Shareholders will vote next Friday on the proposed transaction. - I-Net Bridge
