Mpumalanga Academy of Sport hosted a delegation from German province of North Rhine- Westphalia yesterday.

The visit is part of the cooperation agreement between the two provinces aimed at developing sport in both regions.

Treasurer Mashego of the Mpumalanga Academy said the delegation is to meet the board of directors from Middelburg Academy of Sports to talk about the newly established Youth Empowerment Scheme through Sports (Yess).

"The Yess project plan is based on the regulatory framework for school sport programmes signed between the departments of education and culture, sport and recreation," he said.

The delegation will later meet the directors-general of academies and sports administrators from around Mpumalanga for a broad discussion about future cooperation and soccer development, as well as the likelihood of getting German teams to play in the Premiers Championship Trophy.
