He is one of six people arrested after the murder of Avhatakali Netshisaulu, whose burnt body was found in his car in December.
One of them is Netshisaulu's young widow, Mulalo Sivhidzo, who was denied bail on Monday.
Testifying during Rodney Makhura's bail application on Wednesday, his boss, West Rand businessman Wayne Nolte, said Makhura was probably one of 13 people in South Africa with his skills.
He said Makhura's absence had affected his business .
Nolte said that in the two years Makhura had worked for him he had been "an extremely trustworthy employee".
The court heard that Makhura and one of his co-accused, Mashudu Motubvu, denied having anything to do with Netshisaulu's murder.
Six suspects were arrested a week after the murder and have been in custody ever since.
Makhura and Motubvu said they had been pointed out to police by one of the other accused, Sello Johannes Arnold, whom they had seen in a shebeen.
Arnold, along with Ntambudzeni Mutsenene and Setshaba Fokane, decided not to apply for bail.
Makhura and Motubvu claim to have been tortured by police to force a confession out of them.
The case was postponed until next Thursday. - Sapa
