Two of the six alleged killers of chartered accountant Avhatakali Netshisaulu have denied their involvement in his brutal killing late last year.

Rodney Makhura, 32, and Mashudu Mutobovu, 30, told the Krugersdorp magistrates' court yesterday that they denied the murder charges against them.

"I deny the murder charges against me and I had nothing to do with any murder case whatsoever," read one of the two affidavits which were read out by their defence counsel, advocate Francois Kriel.

The two said they were arrested because they were pointed out by Sello Arnold, 29, one of the accused, whom they claim not to have any connection with.

The two men told the court that they only knew Arnold from seeing him at shebeens because they all frequented the same places in Honeydew.

The court also heard that Arnold and Ntambudzeni Matsenene, 29, did not intend to apply for bail, at least for now.

The case was postponed to February 22 where the third man to apply for bail, Setshaba Fokane, 36, will present his affidavit.

Makhura and Mutobovu will continue to apply for bail.

Netshisaulu's widow, Mulalo Sivhidzo, 28, was denied bail on Monday in the same court.

Netshisaulu, 31, was the son of City Press editor Mathatha Tsedu, who has been present at all the court appearances except for yesterday.
