Three men locked a farmer's wife inside the boot of her car after holding her up at gunpoint and robbing her, East Rand police said yesterday.

Captain Tshilate Thivhulawi said the woman was approached by the men at a farm gate on the road between Vereeniging and Heidelberg on Sunday.

The men fired a shot through the woman's car window, tied up her hands and took her to her farmhouse, where they stole personal items. They then drove to Meyerton with the woman and left her locked in her car's boot.

Police said a 28-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident and would appear in court soon. - Sapa
