Third-rated junior welterweight boxer, Pius Dipheko, and his mentor Thabiso Koetle, want compensation from promoter Branco Milenkovic.
They say he left them out in the cold after signing his contract last week to fight national champion Sam Malinga at Nasrec next Friday night (February 23).
Dipheko from Kagiso, who is nicknamed "Mr Hercules" because of his superbly carved body, says he learned on Monday from a Sowetan story that Malinga would defend against Thulani Mkhwanazi from Free State.
"I am devastated," he said.
Milenkovic, who declared his liking for Dipheko, said if he had "things" his way, he would go with him because his clash with Malinga is an appealing match-up for television.
But Milenkovic refused to shed more light except to say that he was no longer willing to "fight with some people".
The assumption is that Milenkovic was forced to go with Mkhwanazi.
Milenkovic is the third promoter to sign Mkhwanazi - the first two being Reggie Hilmer and S'Phatho Handi.
Hilmer's fight was to take place in November last year. It did not happen because Hilmer did not have a television date.
Handi was to promote Nkosinathi Joyi's defense of the IBO belt this Friday night. But that fight is off.
Malinga and Mkhwanazi were to feature as the main supporting contest.
