The 1110-seater theatre, worth R240million, will be called The Lyric.
Actor and producer Richard Loring, right, has been appointed in-house producer. Boasting many years of experience in theatre, Loring will be responsible for bringing world-class entertainment to the venue.
Loring's partnership with Gold Reef City Casino goes back six years. The present theatre, The Globe, has hosted many internationally acclaimed productions.African Footprint is just one of many that thousands have enjoyed there.
The Lyric will be equipped to handle ambitious, large-scale productions.
The new theatre will feature state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems.
This classical-style theatre will be truly luxurious and opulent. The audience will feel as if they are sitting in one of the world's greatest opera houses - with its plush fittings and old-world atmosphere.
The Lyric will be completed by the end of the year and then theatre lovers can look forward to world-class plays and shows in a truly magnificent setting.
