A 43-year-old nurse was killed and two other people were seriously injured in an ambulance accident yesterday in Thohoyandou, Limpopo police said.

A 43-year-old nurse was killed and two other people were seriously injured in an ambulance accident yesterday in Thohoyandou, Limpopo police said.

The ambulance driver lost control of the vehicle after one of its tyres burst at about 4am.

"The ambulance came to a halt after hitting a tree near Ha-Mutsha village," said Superintendent Ailwei Mushavhanamadi.

The nurse died at the scene.

The driver and another nurse were severely injured and taken to Tshilidzini Hospital.

They are believed to be in a critical condition. - Sapa
