The yearly Coca-Cola Under-18 soccer tournament starts in earnest at different high schools around Limpopo on Wednesday as the institutions prepare their squads for the cluster competitions next month.

The cluster matches kick off on March 3, the district games start on March 17 and the provincial event begin four days later.

SJ van der Merwe of Lebowakgomo, Doasho of Mankweng, Mokopane Academy and JK Tabane of GaMphahlele are likely to cause a stir in the Jay Motsepe Cup on behalf of Limpopo, come end of April.

Athletics events started at the circuit level in Limpopo and a total of 2698 primary and high schools took part at various venues around the province. There are 46 clusters in Limpopo and the schools will compete at various venues such as Peter Mokaba Stadium, Lebowakgomo, Tafelkop, Levubu, Mookgophong, Tzaneen, Mahwelereng, Senwabarwana, Botlokwa and GaMashashane.

The schools that impress at this level will qualify for the district competition next month. The Sekhukhune district events will be held in Hlogotlou from February 17 to 19.

Mopane district will host its programme in Tzaneen, Makhado will be home for Vhembe's meetings and Mookgophong will be the venue for Waterberg. The events will be held at the same dates as Sekhukhune district.

Capricorn district will use Peter Mokaba Stadium for its event from February 21 to 22. The provincial athletics event for primary schools will be held at Peter Mokaba Stadium on March 9 and the high schools will do so at the same venue a day later.
