Three young thugs at the weekend stabbed a man and stole his leather jacket and expensive shoes.

One of the suspects, 21, is in hospital under police guard for allegedly tussling with police and opening fire on them when they were arresting him.

The suspect in hospital will face charges of armed robbery, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, theft of a firearm, attempted murder and attempting to escape from lawful police custody.

Another 19-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Standerton magistrates' court today on charges of armed robbery and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

The incident happened at Sakhile Township near Standerton when three robbers stabbed a 26-year-old man before stealing his leather jacket and a pair of expensive shoes. Police are still looking for a third suspect, a 16-year-old, who is believed to have the shoes.
