Radio Pulpit has received overwhelming support from its listeners all over the country in its bid for a licence.

The Independent Broadcasting Authority of South Africa has received boxes filled with hundreds of thousands of letters, e-mails, text messages and faxes from listeners urging that the station's application for a licence should be processed urgently.

Surisa Nel, the spokesman for Radio Pulpit, said: "Since the beginning of the year 220000 letters and other written and electronic requests have been flooding in from all corners of the country in support of the station's licence application.

"The contribution of the station to nation- building, the moral and social upliftment of the South African society and that no one does it better than we do is widely known."
