African Musicians Against HIV-Aids (Amaha), in partnership with the Gauteng Health Department, will host an HIV- Aids awareness concert in Soweto next week.
The Turn Talk Into Action Awareness concert at the Meadowlands Stadium on February 17 aims to raise awareness of the deadly pandemic, especially among the youth.
The concert features a mouth-watering lineup of jazz, gospel, Afro-pop, hip-hop, kwaito and traditional musicians including Stimela, Ringo Madlingo, Bongo Maffin, Deborah Frazer, Solly Moholo, Rebecca Malope, Arthur Mafokate, Kabelo, Ihashi Elimhlophe, Doc Shebeleza, Mdu Masilela, Skwatta Kamp, Avante, Teargas, Pure Gold, Vuyo Mokoena, Chomee, Bullet Proof, Iyaya, Jub-Jub, Junior and Amarhoba
Amaha chairman, Doc Shebeleza, believes the initiative will be a big help in fighting the spread of HIV-Aids.
"As musicians we have a crucial role to play in educating our youngsters about the danger of HIV-Aids," Shebeleza said.
"We are role models to many of these youngsters and we should be seen to be doing something to stop them from having unsafe sex. In fact, we are encouraging them to abstain from sex until they become responsible for their actions."
The concert starts at 8am and ends at 7pm.
