A farmer accused of setting a trap that killed an employee on his farm was yesterday detained for hours at the Groot Marico magistrates' court.

Magistrate Danel le Grange said Hendrik Jan Vosloo, 40, had been wrongfully granted bail on Friday by the police. She insisted that his attorney apply for bail before her. Bail, of R1500, was granted three hours later.

Vosloo is facing murder charges for having set up a trap that killed Sello Joseph Kgopane, 25, on his poultry farm on Thursday morning.
