Chiefs now eye Arrows

With Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United collecting points as the race for the league title hots up, Kaizer Chiefs can't afford any further defeats at this crucial stage of the season.

Chiefs' title hopes suffered a blow last Saturday when they were pipped 2-1 by Mamelodi Sundowns in Tshwane.

But they now have a chance to redeem themselves against the benign Lamontville Golden Arrows when they meet in a Castle Premiership fixture at Oppenheimer Stadium in Orkney on Saturday at 3.45pm.

A win for Amakhosi could see them reclaiming their spot at the top of the table, but this will depend on how the teams ahead of them in the standings fare in their outings.

Chiefs have played one more match than United and three more than Sundowns, who do not feature in the domestic programme this weekend.

The Brazilians take a 4-2 cushion to Swaziland where they face Royal Leopards in a CAF Champions League return leg on Sunday.

Arrows have not been doing well this season, but Chiefs should tread carefully against Abafana Bes'thende, especially after the Durban side's confidence-boosting 3-1 success over Bidvest Wits on Sunday.

Orlando Pirates face a sterner test against Matsatsantsa a Pitori at Loftus Stadium on Sunday at 3.45pm.
