A Mozambican national who killed his colleague after accusing him of stealing his wages will spend the next 15 years in jail.

Anthony Mayose, 25, was found guilty of killing an unidentified man in December and burying him in a sugar-cane field on Ngongolo farm, near Malelane, where they worked.

Mayose was arrested the day after the incident in Tonga.

Mayose, the victim and an old man received their wages and went to the compound where they were staying. Mayose's money went missing and he accused the victim of stealing his money.

The old man who witnessed the killing told police that Mayose ran away after burying the man he had killed, using a spade, in a shallow grave.

The old man said he called the neighbours and they informed the police.

The badly mutilated body with an open wound in the head was exhumed the next day. - Masoka Dube
