Rocker Courtney Love is considering an offer from the producers of American Idol to replace Paula Abdul as a celebrity judge on the hit TV talent show.

Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe contacted Love's office last week to find out if the former singer, who fronts the band Hole, would be interested in a role on the reality series.

The Malibu singer confirmed to American publication Us Weekly: "He called. He was wondering if I was interested. I thought it was kind of weird, but brilliant."

Abdul made headlines last month when she behaved oddly in live TV interviews promoting American Idol.

She has since blamed a technical glitch for her strange performances, during which she slurred her words and appeared intoxicated. - Wenn
