Holier than thou believe anything African is savage

The SPCA backing down against Tony Yengeni must be welcomed. But it does raise the question: who made the complaint and on what basis?

The SPCA backing down against Tony Yengeni must be welcomed. But it does raise the question: who made the complaint and on what basis?

I suspect that the complaint came from within the SPCA and was entirely based on media photos and reports. It is sad that money that could have been spent on abused animals was wasted. But without this clumsy attempt we would not have had the opportunity to debate culture.

Though the majority pressurised the SPCA, the minority's double standards were noted. These people believe that only their religion and customs need to be protected. They accept Jewish and Muslim beliefs, but anything African is considered savage and backward.

This sanctimonious lot opposed to isiXhosa customs have some Christian belief. But the god they worship has been responsible for some of the worst atrocities, if we believe the Old Testament.

Christians pretend to eat Christ's body and drink his blood. But if they were so advanced, their beliefs would have changed a long time ago. Faith does not need proof.

Many African Anglicans oppose homosexuality because Paul and the Old Testament opposed it, but they ignore the part where it says one should not judge others.

Part of reconciliation is the ability to understand other people's beliefs. People can believe, provided they do not force their beliefs on others.
