The trial of three men alleged to have killed a traffic cop was again postponed in the Krugersdorp magistrates' court yesterday.

Thabo Tladi, 61, was shot and killed a week ago while he was operating a speed-trap camera on the Sterkfontein road near Krugersdorp.

Dressed in casual clothes, Fikile Zikhali, 22, Bonginkosi Tiyane, 23, and Michael Nkabinde, 18, yesterday appeared before magistrate Jacob Msweli to face charges of robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm and murder.

Defence counsel Phillip Nel, representing Zikhali and Tiyane, asked the court to postpone the trial because the prosecutor was not available, and so that the state could hold an identity parade.

The trial was postponed to February 5, when Nkabinde will apply for legal aid and his co-accused will apply for bail.
