King Mhlanga, 32, of Nyongane near Hazyview, in Mpumalanga, apparently had a fight with his wife. The baby was strapped to her back.
Busisiwe Mhlanga fled with the baby and called the police. Cops rushed to the couple's home where the man allegedly attacked them too.
A police officer was bitten on the elbow.
Mhlanga was released on R500 bail after he appeared on two charges of assault and one of defeating the ends of justice. - Masoka Dube
