Percy Sepaela's letter "ANC takes black voters for granted" on January 25 waxes lyrical about the death of opposition politics, which he blames on "the racially inspired" opposition under DA leader Tony Leon.

Percy Sepaela's letter "ANC takes black voters for granted" on January 25 waxes lyrical about the death of opposition politics, which he blames on "the racially inspired" opposition under DA leader Tony Leon.

He also claims that Leon disputed just about anything the government did or said and this is why black people are being pushed away from the DA.

There are numerous factual inaccuracies in Sepaela's analysis.

He also claims that the ANC takes black voters for granted, but just 10 days ago he wrote in the Sunday World how the ruling party is on the path to healing and unity.

Sepaela is a person with a racial obsession. Opposition politics is not dead - it is alive and kicking.

Just look at the effective alliance of opposition parties that is now governing Cape Town. And there is no need to "wrestle" for the leadership of the DA either, as he claims.

The DA has an open, transparent and truly democratic process whereby our new leader will be elected at our May congress in Gauteng.

My advice to Sepaela and the ANC is to take notes and pay attention to how we conduct the succession debate. They might just learn something.
