Jeremy Cronin, the deputy secretary-general of the South African Communist Party, yesterday warned the supporters of ANC deputy president Jacob Zuma against interpreting how the law applies to Zuma.
Cronin, who spoke at the Joe Slovo Memorial Lecture in Polokwane on Monday, said most of Zuma's supporters tended to insult judges when Zuma was charged, but sang different songs when he was acquitted.
"It is not like the law should be the law when it suits you and is something else when it does not," Cronin said.
He called for consistency and said when Zuma was charged with corruption in 2005 his supporters insulted the judiciary, but sang its praises when he was acquitted of rape last year. - Selby Makgotho
